Bio
Katherine Pantangco is a Program Coordinator at the ACLU of Northern California. In this capacity, she oversees the ACLU-NC's Field Fellows who are community organizers committed to protecting communities against federal immigration enforcement abuses. Field Fellows are a critical part of the Northern California Rapid Response Network. As a Program Coordinator, Katherine also manages overall communications, outreach, and coordination with ACLU volunteers.
Katherine was instrumental in responding to and creating a database of the three thousand inquiries from individuals, companies and organizations expressing interest to get involved with the ACLU after Election Day 2016 and ACLU National’s victory against Trump’s unconstitutional travel ban. She supports the ACLU-NC’s Know Your Rights to Canvass, Know Your Rights train-the-trainer workshops, and the overall development of the ACLU-NC’s volunteer program.
Prior to Election Day, Katherine was a campaign assistant to the NO on Prop 66 campaign led by the ACLU-NC. In this role, she supported all aspects of the statewide ballot measure campaign including fundraising, coalition management, online organizing and securing endorsements. Katherine also served as an intern and consultant with the ACLU-NC’s Organizing and Community Engagement department. She also spent a semester interning with the Obama administration in the White House Office of Public Engagement on the Latino and Immigration Outreach team.
Before graduating magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Sociology in May 2016, Katherine earned a summer fellowship to study economics and public policy at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School through the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) program.
Katherine has a background in classical ballet training and in her spare time continues to take dance classes. She is also a new member of L.E.A.D Filipino, an organization that promotes civic engagement and local exposure for young Filipin@s.
