The Importance of Unrestricted Support

We accept restricted donations that support our existing work or work that is part of our longer-term plans, but we strongly encourage unrestricted gifts that support our core mission. By supporting ACLU NorCal’s core mission, funders invest in building the strongest ACLU possible by supporting all the functions and work that are essential to delivering our robust integrated advocacy programs: a robust legal docket and policy agenda, community organizing and leadership development, strategic communications, dedicated organizational leadership, internal equity, staff excellence and stability, operational support, technology, professional development, fundraising, a healthy working environment, and a strong, supportive presence in the communities we serve. These elements are vital to our success as an organization that advocates in courts, legislatures, and communities for civil liberties and civil rights for all Californians.
