Voter ID Fast Facts

California's elections are secure. The proposed voter ID initiative for the November 2026 ballot would require voters to show government-issued ID every time they vote — creating privacy risks, barriers for eligible voters, ballot rejections, and targeting communities that already face obstacles to voting. Mandatory citizenship checks using flawed databases would lead to purges of eligible voters from the rolls. All this to solve a problem that doesn't exist.
